A typical varietal wine showcasing the very best of Valladolid's herby Verdejo. From Rueda DO, an appellation that we've all come to know and love thanks to its soaring popularity over the last decade, this Verdejo is a reliable white to have handy in the home and superb with grilled fish.
This Protos Verdejo's credentials as a foodies wine were cemented with the honour of being chosen as the “Best young wine in Spain” by the Gourmet Guide.

FOOD PAIRING INSPIRATION
A gem of a wine with high acidity that's great for cutting through oily fish and goes really well with grilled fish. Try Verdejo with fish tacos!
VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING
2021 saw a later bud burst than more recent vintages and a wetter year than average for the growing season. The whole cycle up until summer was cool and wet but a hot and dry summer ripened the grapes which benefit from good, fresh acidity. The '21 vintage is well balanced, harmonious and with good structure and acidity.
PRODUCER NOTES
One of Spain's best known wine producer, Bodegas Protos produce wines from entry level varietal numbers all the way to Gran Reserva Ribera del Dueros that are the envy of many competitors in Rioja! In fact, it was Protos themselves who lent the name of their wine Ribera Duero to the DO when it was founded in 1982, so epitomous was Protos with the region.
Up until 2006 Protos was based in and around Burgos and only in that year did the company expand into Rueda and start producing their Verdejo.
