LA SOMMELIERE WINE COOLERS
La Sommeliere history
Founded in France in 1993, La Sommeliere is part of the FRIO group that also produce the Climadiff and Avintage wine cooler brands. Although based in France, there are a UK based team of engineers who look after the maintenance of the units within the La Sommeliere brand. La Sommeliere offers a range of four types of wine cooler from its Tradition, Service, Prestige and Commercial range, each offering different features and designs.
La Sommeliere wine fridge range
Our La Sommeliere wine fridge range takes in around 30 different wine coolers from tabletop, to freestanding or build in wine fridges all with that signature La Sommeliere classic design and reliability. These wine coolers are for use within a kitchen or home setting, a commercial premise like a restaurant, bar or office or, especially with the wine cabinets, they can be placed in outhouses, garages or cellars if they contain a winter system.
Prestige, Tradition or Service range?
The large product range from La Sommeliere can make your choice of wine cooler confusing, this section should help clarify the difference between the ranges.
- Prestige - The La Sommeliere Prestige range was created for the most exacting wine enthusiasts with the most functions, features and the temperature zones held in the tightest range. These wine fridges are beautifully designed to exacting standards and feature solid beech shelving and clean line designs. The prestige range boasts the most features of the range with safety locks, temperature alarms, charcoal filters and the highest levels of energy efficiency. The La Sommeliere prestige range offers the ultimate protection for your wine collection and will become a talking piece in any home.
- Tradition - The La Sommeliere Tradition wine fridges are created to closely align to the traditional conditions of an original wine cave like you may find in a Bordeaux cellar. Although less packed with technology and modern features, this wine fridge will store your wine elegantly and effortlessly for the duration although essential controls are still present including the humidity and temperature controls, UV protections through the door and anti-vibration systems. The tradition range, as they mimic a cellar, are not dual zones and therefore can only keep wine at one temperature and can generally be set between 5-18c although the universal 12c should be chosen if you're cellaring multiple wine types.
- Service - The La Sommeliere Service wine fridges have been created for home use, they are elegant, quiet and designed to fit effortlessly into your home. These are the wine coolers chosen for those who are looking to place a wine cooler in an apartment, living room or other living area, they are also popular as office wine coolers. These wine coolers are the most beautifully, and gracefully designed coolers that feature attractive extras like LED lighting, adjustable shelving for display purposes and touch button controls.
La Sommeliere Freestanding or Built- In Wine Cooler?
Most of the La Sommeliere wine coolers are for freestanding use meaning they should not be built into kitchen cabinetry due to needing to vent from the front, back, sides and top. However, La Sommeliere do also produce some full size built-in wine cabinets that can be placed into your kitchen. We generally recommend La Sommeliere for customers who would like a freestanding unit in the home or need a wine cabinet for colder or warmer environments like garages or conservatories as many are able to cope with temperature fluctuations.
Single Zone or Dual Zone La Sommeliere?
Most La Sommeliere wine coolers can be set between 5-20°C. This makes a single zone ideal for those who want to cellar one type of wine over the longer term at a certain temperature like Bordeaux or Burgundy, however, by setting the wine cooler at the universal 12°C you can keep most reds and whites over the long term. It's also possible to use the wine cooler for service if there is only one type of wine you want to keep in the fridge, either red, white or Champagne can be catered for in service by a single zone La Sommeliere.
A dual zone is useful if you want to cellar different wines at different temperatures, want to use part of the fridge for service or just want that degree of flexibility should your wine collection change. Dual zones are more expensive but if you want that versatility then it may well be worth the extra money.
