Part of the Frio group of companies that include La Sommeliere and Climadiff, Avintage have been in the wine fridge industry for over 30 years and are considered a premium range for kitchen wine fridges such as under-counter or integrated wine coolers as well as experts in long term wine storage cabinets for ageing often with very large bottle capacity capabilities of up to 300 bottles. All Avintage wine fridges come with a two year warranty and also benefit from a team of UK technicians who can help with any questions on the product range.
Avintage produce attractive, premium wine coolers often benefitting from special design features or finishing touches such an integrated handles, sliding shelves, display shelves and touch screens. Avintage is the premier brand of the set of three companies and their wine cabinets offer some extra features compared to the Climadiff range that may be of interest to the serious wine collector. The shelving on the Avintage range is often produced from Sapele wood and display shelves feature in many of their premium wine cabinets.
How does an Avintage wine cooler protect your wine?
There are four naturally occurring elements that can impact the long term maturation of your wine that most wine coolers serve in protecting against but Avintage offer advanced solutions for all:
- Vibration - Avintage compressors are mounted on “vibration reducing” rubber mountings. For extra support, the shelves are made from the soft Sapele wood which absorbs vibrations.
- UV Light - All Avintage kitchen units have UV protected doors, their wine cabinet range also benefit either from UV protection or solid doors which keep the wine in complete darkness.
- Stable Temperature - The Avintage range, whether a single, dual or multi-zone will hold your wine consistently at the temperature at which it has been set. If the temperatures dip or raise outside this range, most Avintage units feature an alarm system to let you know if a change has occurred.
- Humidity - the humidity within the cooler is automatically managed by the system and kept at a constant between 55-85% ensuring corks don't dry out and neither mold appears in the unit.
The Avintage wine cooler range is split into DVA and DVP lines. These connote whether the wine cooler is a single zone or multi-zone unit. Avintage offer 27 different wine cooling units to the market including:
- 17 built-in/under-counter wine coolers able to store 8-97 bottles
- 7 wine cabinets designed for wine maturation holding 178 to 294 bottles
- 3 Polyvalent free-standing cellars that hold between 178 to 294 bottles
Single Zone or Dual Zone built in unit?
When choosing a built-in or integrated unit for your kitchen there are usually a few things to consider. Apart from matching the aesthetic of your kitchen the second most important element to your choice is likely to be whether to go for a single zone Avintage or a dual zone Avintage. A single zone wine cooler allows you to set one temperature for the whole fridge, usually between 5-20°C and will be set based on your own drinking preferences. If you're a fan of white or red wines exclusively, or don't mind keeping the fridge at a universal 12°C then a single zone will be perfectly fine. If however your partner prefers red and you prefer white or vice versa, a dual zone will probably be the best choice for your family kitchen, allowing you to set one half of the wine fridge to one temperature and the other to another, giving perfectly chilled wines at any time.
