From the best Victoria vintage of the last 25 years according to Wine Spectator, the Yarra Yering Underhill Shiraz is blessed with both power and finesse? Here it is. The 96 point Yarra Yering Underhill Shiraz is a masterpiece of cool climate winemaking, taming and mastering both grape and terroir and has to be classed as one of the finest wines of its type in the world.

CRITIC REVIEWS (2014)

Deep, shimmering ruby. Spice-accented cherry and black raspberry scents, along with suggestions of cola, licorice and woodsmoke. Juicy and well-concentrated, offering bitter cherry, dark berry and mocha flavors that slowly flesh out through the back half. Supple tannins build steadily through the long, spicy finish, which strongly echoes the cherry note. Drinking window: 2024-2034. 93 Points Vinous

This 100% Australian Shiraz will pair beautifully with steak, burgers and even roast lamb.

VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING

The best Victoria vintage for 25 years was kind to Syrah. 

The grapes are hand harvested and the wine fermented in large upright oak cask with 20% whole bunches. The wine is matured for 12 months in 50% 3500L one year old casks and the rest in 10% new oak French puncheons.

PRODUCER NOTES

The philosophy of the winemaking at Yarra Yering is to do all the hard work in the vineyard so less effort is needed in the winery. The quality of fruit is of paramount important. The grapes are hand picked and whole bunch fermentation is a favoured practise.
