FOOD PAIRING INSPIRATION
From an amazing vintage, this rich, lush, concentrated Pinot Noir will make a match with a range of poultry from chicken and guineafowl to duck and goose and game.
VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING
2018 saw a dry winter on the Sonoma Coast with rainfall only coming in the spring. The summer was warm and consistent with harvest commencing early in mid August.
The Pinot Noir for this blend was sourced from the Calegari Vineyard, the Foss Vineyard, the Terra de Promissio Vineyard, the Williams Selyem Estate, and the Drake Estate Vineyard.
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes and aged for 11 months in 33% new oak.
PRODUCER NOTES
Ed Selyem and Burt Williams founded the winery back in 1979 from a garage in Forestville, California; today Williams Selyem is one of the most iconic wine labels in the United States producing some of the highest quality Pinot Noirs in the world.
The pair singlehandedly raised the international profile of the Russian River Valley AVA and brought swathes of investment into the region. These highly sought after reds are often sold before the vintage has been harvested and some labels are near impossible to find, holed up in the wine cellars of the rich and famous.
