OVERVIEW

A delightful, limited edition, red fruit and mineral in style Malbec from award winning Mendoza producer Luigi Bosca. Full of freshness and heaped full of ripe red fruit and with a silky mouthfeel, this is a wine that will stand up to game and strong flavours as well as being complex enough to savour alone. A real star of the region.

FOOD PAIRING INSPIRATION

The perfect accompaniment to game. Ideal to enjoy with game meats of strong flavour, such as deer or wild boar, marinated in herbs and served with roasted vegetables.

VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING

A hot vintage beset with challenges from Covid 19 to extreme heat however, with this years De Sangre we see only upside with round tannins, silky mouthfeel and expressive fruit out of the gate.

The grapes were manually harvested in 18 to 20-kilogram boxes, followed by the bunch selection and stalking processes, and, subsequently, berry selection. The grape juice is cold macerated at a temperature ranging between 8 and 10 °C for five to seven days. After that, it is fermented in small stainless steel tanks, undergoing various extractions, such as plunging and rack and return (délestage).

Once maceration is completed, wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, where it goes through malolactic fermentation. The wine is then filtered and bottled, and then stowed in the wine cellar for at least six months before it enters the market. This wine has limited production of just 9,000 bottles.

PRODUCER NOTES

Wine has been produced on the lands of the first Luigi Bosca planting since 1901, the originator of the vines was the Spanish founder from Navarre; Leoncio Arizu who set up Bodegas Luigi Bosca.

The Luigi Bosca De Sangre line is created in 2021 as a result of the search for special plots with distinctive expressions. This is an alliance between nature and the human hand; an act of co-creation that reflects the firm’s style and our winemaker’s interpretation.
