OVERVIEW
A very good vintage for Pinot Noir in Sonoma County, this blue fruit, velvety wine from Radio-Coteau is drinking beautifully today. Great depth, precise fruit, silky tannins and great freshness; a Pinot that's drinking perfectly now.
CRITIC REVIEWS
“(35% new oak): Bright ruby. Wild, assertive boysenberry, floral and cocoa powder aromas show excellent clarity and a spicy overtone. Juicy and tightly focused on the palate, offering intense red and blue fruit flavors that gain sweetness and depth with air. The most structured of these pinots (which is why it has yet to be bottled), finishing with serious power and chewy, building tannins.” 94 Points. Stephen Tanzer
FOOD PAIRING INSPIRATION
This 100% Pinot Noir will pair beautifully with salmon dishes and roast chicken.
VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING
2012 was an easy growing season with lots of quality fruit. A long and moderate growing season; no heat waves or heavy rain. Pinot Noir faired particularly well thanks to the length of the season the grapes had the opportunity to fully ripen.
A 100% Pinot Noir that is biodynamic, hand-harvested and naturally fermented. Unfined and Unfiltered. Whole-bunch fermentation with 35% new oak.
PRODUCER NOTES
The wines of Radio Coteau are considered some of the finest in Sonoma County and the Anderson Valley. Producing varietal wines from several independent Lieu-dits, this producer is easily recognisable both via their wine in the glass and cool labels.
Sussman currently holds individual plots dedicated to Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. The viticultural practices are biodynamic with no chemical fertilisers used on the vines.
