VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING

2020 was an outstanding vintage with plenty of heat around to ripen the grapes to full phenolic ripeness.

Bibi Graetz - "When I drink a glass of Casamatta Bianco I immediately find myself on the southern coast of Tuscany, in Argentario. This wine reflects the terroir of the area, the sun and the scents of the Maremma. Floral notes of Moscato, peach blossom, citrus notes and the freshness of Vermentino, pear and exotic fruit."

PRODUCER NOTES

Nonconformist Bibi Graetz is everything Italian wine wasn't in 2000 when he broke away from the DOCG classification and decided to make his own wines in his own style. Tuscany is an Italian county of winemakers who can trace their roots back five centuries or more, it's a land that moves slowly and honours its traditions - not so Graetz.

Ripping up the rule book Graetz would add indigenousness grapes to blends that were strictly controlled by the Italian wine lawmakers. These crazy new wines gained popularity with young drinkers and international markets thirsty for something more from Tuscany than straw covered bottles and extracted Brunellos.

Today, Graetz has mellowed into one of Italy's most respected winemakers blending tradition and innovation together to compose symphonic wines. We're honoured to carry a range of wines from Bibi Graetz.
