OVERVIEW
If there was one wine we all knew we wanted to include in the Coolersomm collection it was Vajra's Langhe Nebbiolo. A mini-Barolo, even more approachable in youth and a pure hit of Nebbiolo under £30. A treat and a bargain!
With high tannin and acidity this wine has the structure to also take on tertiary characteristics with age. Delicious today and full of delectable red fruit and Turkish delight notes.
CRITIC REVIEWS
It’s fresh and lively, but carries the firm signature of Piedmont Nebbiolo. Cherry, aniseed, almond paste, dried roses. Medium-bodied, fresh, all strawberry and mouth-perfume, some stony tannin, and a sort of Turkish delight flavour in the aftertaste. Lovely wine. 93 Points. Gary Walsh

Truffle and mushroom based dishes, game and dishes with hard cheese will all pair well with this Langhe Nebbiolo.
VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING
The 2021 vintage offered a mix bag of weather with a hot summer and some early frosts. However, the high altitude vineyards of Vajra managed to produce some amazing wines from low yields.
This Langhe Nebbiolo spends 14 months in French and Slavonian oak.
PRODUCER NOTES
A pioneer in Barolo and the Piedmont through his lifetime, Aldo Vajra founded his estate in the 1970s and throughout this time has advocated wines from high altitude vineyards and developed wines from indigenousness grapes (like the amazing Freisa that Vajra have made their own) and brought grapes into the region to flourish like the Rhine Riesling.
The family still continue to innovate with research into soils and climate changes whilst managing to produce exceptional wines of power and finesse in every vintage.

SERVICE AND STORAGE TIPS
This wine should be stored around 12°C and served between 16-18°C. We recommend an hour or two in the decanter to make the most of the wine.
