OVERVIEW

From the earliest recorded vintage in Mendoza, this superb value Malbec from the Pulenta Estate rode through the challenge of the Covid vintage serenely to create one of the best versions of the wine to date.

Lavender, blackberry, blueberry, clove and sandalwood aromas. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Succulent and flavorful with a solid core of ripe black fruit. Long and spiced, too. Drink or hold. 93 Points James Suckling

VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING

One of the earliest vintages on record, the warm 2021 vintage will be one to be remembers for decades thanks to the exceptional harvest and the interruptions and chaos caused due to Covid-19. Thankfully this has impacted the quality of the wine not a single jot. 

Hand harvested Malbec grapes ferment in steel tanks and then aged in 50% new French oak for 12 months.

PRODUCER NOTES

Founded in 2002 by the Pulenta family of Italian descent, the family have been making wine here for three generations. The winery is now overseen by the two brothers, Hugo and Eduardo. Their 135 hectares are planted to Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. 

At around 1000m above sea level, the wine retains great freshness as well as a depth of fruit that is the envy of the old world! The old world philosophy is present in the winery with French oak a part of the signature taste of Pulenta.

This wine should be stored around 12°C and served between 16-18°C. We recommend a minimum of 1 hours decanting.
