A sumptuous dessert wine from the Monbazillac appellation in southwest France, made from a blend of Sémillon and Muscadelle grapes.
FOOD PAIRING INSPIRATION
This wine is ideal for special occasions and can be enjoyed with a variety of sweet and savoury dishes, or simply as a decadent dessert on its own. Foie gras is a traditional pairing with sweet wines like Monbazillac, the richness of foie gras is beautifully contrasted by the wine’s sweetness and acidity. Pates and Terrines are also good matches for this wine as well as blue cheeses, and fruit-based desserts.
PRODUCER NOTES
Château Tirecul La Gravière is a prestigious wine estate located in the Monbazillac region of southwest France, renowned for its exceptional dessert wines that often rival, and sometimes surpass, the quality of Sauternes. Established in 1992 by Bruno and Claudie Bilancini, the estate began with the lease of 9 hectares from one of the region’s top vineyards, historically recognized as a Premier Cru site. Bruno, a trained oenologist with experience at the local co-operative, and Claudie purchased the 400-year-old estate in 1997. Today, they cultivate 16 hectares of vines.
