One of the most common requests we get at Coolersomm is for shallow depth wine fridges and wine coolers - click the link for our full list of shallow depth wine fridges. Many premium, freestanding wine fridges have a depth of over 60cm and in many cases customers need a maximum of 60cm and at times even under 50cm and this rules out over 90% of all our wine coolers.
Today we're going to look at the best shallow depth wine fridges in our selection and explain in which situations these wine coolers may be the ideal solution for your shallow depth needs!
Naturally. there is only so shallow a wine cooler depth can be, a bottle of wine itself has a certain height, regularly of 30cm, the door thickness is likely to be at least 5cm, leave some space either side and we're at 40cm before we've added any internal mechanism. Our shallowest depth wine cooler is the Dunavox DXFH-28.88 which at 43cm as shallow as any wine cooler on the market.
Best tall, shallow depth wine cabinet
If you're looking for a shallow and slim but tall wine cooler then you'll find very few on the market. The Dometic C75F is both shallow and slim at 48cm depth and width but still fairly tall at 165cm, this single zone can store only 75 bottles, which is a pretty low number considering the height.
If you're willing to spend more, then the Dunavox DX-123.338DB is a superb dual zone wine cabinet with a depth of just 57cm and a bottle capacity of 123 bottles. It also has the ability to be used as both a freestanding and a built-in wine cabinet.
Best mid height, shallow depth wine fridge
There's really only one option in the mid height, shallow depth freestanding wine cooler section and that's the Dunavox DXFH-54.150. However, this wine cooler is so popular that it's almost always on back order. An attractive dual zone from premium producer Dunavox, this is our best selling wine cooler of its type.
Best small, shallow depth wine fridge
Small, shallow depth wine fridges are more common than tall ones and there are some good value, premium brands offering great solutions in the freestanding range. Our best selling small, shallow depth wine cooler is the La Sommeliere SLS33DZ, a dual zone of just 43cm depth with the ability to cool 33 bottles, including Champagne.
The stainless steel fronted La Sommeliere LS34A is another great compact option, this time just a single zone but with both a diminutive width and depth at just 43cm deep and 52cm wide.
Best integrated, shallow depth wine fridge
Integrated wine fridges, by their nature, are almost always 'shallow' as they need to fit the aperture of the kitchen. Generally these integrated units are always around 55-56cm deep. The unit you need will depend more on height than depth so use the link above to filter heights to find your perfect option.
The smart alternative... How about a wine wall?
There's one other way to enjoy a really shallow depth wine storage option if you instead have the space for width and that's a wine wall. Many wine walls store the bottle side on, allowing for depth issues. The Teca Vino by EXPO wine walls offer a genuinely beautiful solution to the depth issue and look so great they can even be placed in living areas.
Your options are limited if you have a depth of under 60cms for your wine cooler and severely limited if under 50cm but with at least a couple of options in the freestanding, built in and integrated ranges there should be at least one wine fridge that's ideal for you.
