OVERVIEW

A Barolo for today, the single vineyard Bric del Fiasc from Paolo Scavino is one of the best value premium Barolo wines in our collection. Complex and refined, full bodied and long, this Nebbiolo is drinking beautifully today.

CRITIC REVIEWS

Fragrant and elegantly structured, this beautiful wine opens with scents of perfumed berry, rose petal and dark berry. The full-bodied palate delivers layers of ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, white pepper and baking spice alongside a backbone of firm, refined tannins and fresh acidity. It's still young so give it time to reach its full potential. Drink 2019–2026. 95 Points. Wine Enthusiast

Menthol and eucalyptus accents shade the cherry core in this muscular red. Vibrant, with energy that pulsates and carries the sweet fruit and underbrush notes through the finish. Big tannins. Best from 2019 through 2033. 94 Points. Wine Spectator

FOOD PAIRING INSPIRATION

A bold wine with structure, this Barolo will pair well with big meat dishes like steak, veal, osso buco, venison and any beef or game dish.

VINTAGE AND WINEMAKING

2011 was rated as above average and was a fairly middling vintage but in the hands of the right winemaker, special wines could be made. The Bric del Fiasc is one of those wines.

100% Nebbiolo grapes, hand harvested and sorted from the Tortonian and Helvetian Fiasc vineyards.

PRODUCER NOTES

The winery was founded in Castiglione Falletto in 1921 by Lorenzo and Paolo Scavino. Today the estate is run by grandson, Enrico and his two daughters Enrica and Elisa. The Scavino vineyards are envied by Barolo families throughout the region with plots in Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d’Alba, Verduno, Roddi and Monforte d’Alba.
